H₂O INNOVATION 

After over 20 years of existence, Quebec company H₂O Innovation solidified its operation and maintenance business line by acquiring the firms JCO and Environmental Consultants. Focusing on growth and customer service, the organization also secured a new credit facility with the National Bank of Canada, allowing the company to continue its acquisition strategy. With this, H₂O Innovation will be able to deploy its expertise in water treatment processes with several municipal and industrial clients along the Hudson Valley in the State of New York.

SABOTAGE 

Sea of Stars, an RPG developed by Quebec studio Sabotage, will be released on the Nintendo Switch. The game tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the power of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer. Sea of Stars is set to be released in summer 2022.

CLUB MED 

Club Med opened its first Canada property in Charlevoix. The resort offers a preserved natural landscape along the St. Lawrence River and experiences to enjoy during any season. With a pioneer mindset, the company redesigns ski resorts worldwide. Media outlets from around the world were there for the inauguration of Club Med Québec-Charlevoix, which helped promote and showcase the site internationally. This world-class attraction is very good news for the region in terms of visibility and economic benefits from tourism, as well as the increasing population in the region. The new resort can also rely on local resources, which in turn promotes the region’s products and producers.

QUÉBEC VITAE AND THE LIFE SCIENCES AND HEALTH TECHNOLOGY ECOSYSTEM

Through alliances between science and industry, network and businesses, the Québec VITAE cluster is dedicated to developing the life sciences and health technology business ecosystem in the Québec City region. The sector received positive media coverage in December, especially in North America, Europe and Asia.

BioMark Diagnostics

The CQDM biopharmaceutical research consortium announced its participation in the early lung cancer detection program led in partnership between BioMark Diagnostics—a private biomedical analysis lab based in Québec City—and pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca and Pfizer Canada.

CERVO

The Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation awarded $7 million in funding over three years to allow the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital at McGill University and the CERVO Brain Research Centre of the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale to develop personalized therapies for patients with Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

CHU de Québec – Université Laval

The CHU de Québec – Université Laval and Investissement Québec have announced Health Canada’s approval of the first 3D-printed medical implant by the 3D anatomical reconstruction laboratory LARA 3D.

Medicago

Medicago, a biopharmaceutical company established in Québec City, announced that they submitted positive phase III data for regulatory review by Health Canada in regard to its COVID-19 vaccine candidate combined with GSK’s pandemic adjuvant.
